THREE-BODY PURIFICATION

Bodily toxicity, unnatural life-style, negative thinking and emotional shock disturbs the three bodies: physical, feeling and thought.

Chakra Institute offers a five days retreats.

Many past participants have found this program life transforming.

Between the cells of our physical body, there is a considerable space. Two invisible bodies pervade this space just as radio waves pervade the “solid” walls of a room. Ancient Indian teachings call the first invisible body, the subtle body. It is the seat of our feelings. The second invisible body (causal) is the origin of our thoughts (causal) pervades both the physical body and the subtle body.

The subtle body has seven major spinning wheels of light energy (chakras) which give most of their support to the five basic elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Akasha (Space). Elements and combinations of elements play an essential role in determining how we feel. Under conditions of stress and toxicity, the elements lose their purity and potency. This may have a negative effect on our feelings.

A dispersed Earth element may make us feel weak and sluggish. Polluted Air can cause us to feel uncaring.

Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar, the founder of the Chakra Institute, has over four decades of experience in helping thousands of people around the world to purify their physical body, feelings and thoughts.

Except where contraindicated, participants do not eat solid food for the five-day period. They are provided with delicious rich protein shakes, high quality herbs, husks, teas, vitamin C and special tonics. This diet is intended to cleanse the internal organs. If needed special foods can be provided according to the participant’s needs.

It takes two days to purify the physical body. As Sri Shyamji’s sounds and mantras are chanted, they act deeply on the subtle body.

On the third day, emphasis shifts to the subtle body and feelings which have been buried beneath our awareness. This supports the purification process and helps to increase sensitivity to sound and the subtle body begins to respond to the sounds.

On the fourth day, purified energy from the physical and subtle body is refined enough to penetrate the causal body. The process of thinking itself may begin to feel clearer.

Special sounds, which produce soorya akasha (Golden Space), are chanted.

This highly refined akasha pushes more dense and toxic residue out of the causal body. When purified, the breathing rate drops and participants meditate with ease.

The fifth day is devoted to consolidating the gains of the previous days and preparing to preserve them after the retreat ends with a healing chant with an ancient instrument tambura.

THE THREE BODIES

The universe is comprised of three fields of energy: the physical, the subtle, and the causal. That which appears in the physical field must first manifest in the causal and subtle realms. The three fields overlie, indwell, and pervade each other. The causal field is the source of the individual thinking body. Humans, in the process of survival, evaluate changes in their environment first in the causal body by means of thoughts. The thoughts generate feelings in the subtle body, which are then expressed in the physical body. Thoughts, feelings, and sensations influence each other.

The subtle body is the home of the chakras, seven major spinning wheels of light energizing the five basic elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Aakaasha (Space). Elements and the combination of elements play an essential role in determining how we feel. Under conditions of stress and toxicity, the elements lose some of their purity and potency and may then have a negative effect on our feelings. For example, when Earth is in abundance we feel solid, grounded and our confidence is strengthened, while if it is dispersed may make us feel weak and sluggish. When Air is plentiful, we may feel buoyant and more loving, if polluted can cause us to feel uncaring.

The light of the chakras travels through subtle pathways called Microchakras. Blockages in the microchakras cause stress, anxiety, addictive behavior and lack of confidence. When open, these pathways lead to a more meaningful, productive, and joyful life, which is in harmony with the laws of nature.

The three bodies are energized by five major praanas, or vital life forces. Of these five, the apaana praana is the detoxifier. It normally operates below the navel where it facilitates bodily functions of elimination such as urination etc. However, the stress of modern life putrefies apaana, affecting the purity of higher praanas, therefore different regions of the body can manifest disorders ranging from constipation to depression, memory problems to dementia, and even schizophrenia. When the apana is purified, digestion and bowel rhythm is improved, and one feels grounded, clear, stable, and light.

DIETARY PROTOCOL

Ayurveda describes three doshas (three types of energy) therefore, several dietary options will be available.

Transformative: Except where contraindicated, participants do not eat solid food for the five-day period. They are provided with high quality herbs and husks, teas, vitamin C, special tonics and delicious protein shakes.

Rejuvenating: Supplemented with additional organic purifying foods such as kitcheri (mung beans and rice) which are easily digested.

Nourishing: Supplemented with additional organic purifying foods such as kitcheri (mung beans and rice), steamed vegetables and other foods according to the participant’s needs.

How does the Purification affect each body?

The physical body: Physical purification sharpens all five senses. It inspires the desire to keep the body healthy. The dietary protocol is intended to cleanse the internal organs (liver, kidney, bladder, spleen, blood and intestines), strengthen immune system, and decrease sensitivity to allergens.  InnerTuning movements associated with each chakra are practiced and assist the purification process. Regular exercise and healthy diet become part of our routine.

The subtle body: Purification of the subtle body cleanses our feelings and emotions. The negative ones may have been buried beneath our awareness. Sometimes, old memories from early childhood emerge. This is part of the purification process. Since all participants are there for the same purpose, they provide a supportive environment for each other. We become in touch with our real feelings on a deeper level. Relationships evolve, creating contentment as competitiveness evaporates. We truly feel happy when others are also succeeding. Helping others becomes a reward in and of itself. Sri Shyamji’s sounds and mantras act deeply on the subtle body increasing sensitivity to sound.

The causal body: Deep questions such as Who Am I? Why Am I Here? And How do I create and maintain wellness and happiness in my life? Are discussed. The educational experience is empowering on many levels. The process of thinking itself may begin to feel clearer, interest in abstract thinking naturally emerges and the desire to turn the senses inward (Pratyahara). Special sounds and mantras which produce soorya (golden) akasha, are chanted. This highly refined akasha pushes more dense and toxic akasha out of the causal body. Consequently, the breathing rate drops dramatically and participants feel freer to meditate, refining the thinking body.

The last day of the Purification is devoted to consolidating the gains of the previous days and preparing to preserve them after the retreat ends.

The power of sounds: Sri Shyamji’s unique ability to produce the ethereal element of soorya aakaasha with his voice is the key to the powerful changes every participant in the retreat can expect. The absorption of soorya akasha purifies apana, and helps to integrate the three bodies, facilitates meditation.
