Kavita Kat Macmillan is an interdisciplinary vocalist, musician, and performer whose work bridges yoga, somatic practice, and performing arts to foster creative awakening. Through her in-depth mentorships, retreats, and workshops, Kavita helps people of all backgrounds and ages shed inhibition, dissolve blocks, and access their unique, authentic voice and seat of creativity within.
Kavita brings over 20 years of training in Hindustani Classical Vocal music, studying with a lineage of gurus including Sri Karunamayee, her beloved teacher whom Sri Shyamji Bhatnagar affectionately called his “Soul Sister”, and in whom he recognized the highest compliment - describing her chanting as having the quality of a "fifth chakra voice." It was through this connection that Kavita was introduced to Microchakra Psychology and to Sri Shyamji himself, with whom she went on to study Naad Yoga and Chakra energetics directly. She holds deep gratitude for her time with him and has since been asked to lead numerous sound classes for the Institute, carrying his teachings forward through her own voice and practice. Kavita currently serves on the Institute's Board of Trustees as Secretary.
Kavita presently studies with Warren Senders. Her devotional music, which can be found streaming online, is a beautiful offering of her devotional heart, and she often performs in collaboration with other highly regarded musicians in the mantra and devotional music space.
